Board of Director VP Tim's T-Bucket

A big thanks to Tim for sharing that photo! It’s not every day you see a piece of automotive history (especially one with that much personality) parked in the neighborhood.

A Quick History of the T-Bucket

The "T-Bucket" is the quintessential hot rod, born from the DIY spirit of the 1950s. While it's based on the 1923 Ford Model T, very few of these cars are "stock." Here is how they became icons:

The Original "Bucket"

The name comes from the two-seater body of a 1923 Model T, which looks remarkably like a simple steel bucket. The "Norm Grabowski" Influence: In the mid-50s, hot rodder Norm Grabowski took a T body, shortened the bed, and dropped in a massive Cadillac V8. His car, the Kookie T, became a TV star on 77 Sunset Strip, sparking a national craze.

Key Design Features

Exposed Engines: Usually sporting a highly polished V8 with "chrome everything." Staggered Tires: Skinny tires up front with massive "slicks" in the back to handle the power. Vertical Windshields: A nod to its 1920s roots, often paired with a high-mounted steering column. It’s a design that prioritizes power-to-weight ratio and pure, unadulterated style over things like "doors" or "roofs."
